Terms and Conditions of Enrollment
We’ll provide everything you need to sign up for your health insurance.
We only require:
- A completed and signed application form
- The policyholder’s identification document
- The maximum enrollment age for this product is 75 years
- 4% discount for annual payment
If you have been covered by another health insurance policy in Spain for at least one year before joining Sanitas, you may eliminate the waiting periods on your new policy, except for childbirth.

Can I freely choose my doctor or medical center?
Yes, you have full access to the entire Sanitas medical network.
You can book an appointment directly with the specialist you need by calling the health center or hospital of your choice.
Sanitas has one of the most extensive medical networks in Spain, ensuring you always have multiple care options available.
Can I use my health insurance outside of Spain?
Yes, the policy covers medical emergencies abroad up to €12,000 per insured person per year, so you’re protected wherever you go.
You can also speak with a doctor in Spain via video call for less urgent consultations, thanks to our digital coverage.
To access this benefit, your stay abroad must not exceed 90 days.
Is there a minimum contract period?
Yes, health insurance policies have a duration of 12 months and are automatically renewed.
If you decide not to renew, simply let us know at least one month in advance.
What are pre-existing conditions?
Your policy will take effect on the 1st day of the month you choose when signing up for the insurance.
What tests or services are covered if I have a pre-existing condition?
If you’ve had any illness or pre-existing condition prior to purchasing your insurance, you must declare it when completing the medical questionnaire in the second step of the enrollment process. From there, the procedure is as follows:
1. Medical Review: The policy will remain in a pending state while the medical department reviews your health history.
2. Personalized Assessment: A doctor will contact you to evaluate the pre-existing condition and determine whether any coverage limitations apply, or if you can access 100% of the services.
3. Final Decision: After the assessment, you will receive detailed information about the available coverage. At this point, you can choose to activate the policy or decline it at no cost.
